Interning

Well, summer is coming to and end and my first internship ends in one week.

The entire summer I have been interning at Mixed Media Promotion in Cranston, RI.  The internship came to me suddenly and to a great relief. I was searching for internships when I came upon Mixed Media. I looked at the internship section of the website when I discovered that the internship deadline had already passed. Desperate, I called anyway. To my surprise, she had not found an intern yet! And the rest is glorious.

I have learned a lot working for Ginny. She handles a lot of different promotional ventures which keeps things exciting. I have been promoting everything from charity events, musicians, to movies. I even met Peter Facinelli from “Twilight” and watch him film some scenes for the movie we have been promoting.

I have been able to contact a ton of different media outlets from print to radio. When asked what I want to do with myself, I say “Well, I love music and I love helping people.” I was able to do both with this internship. Promoting musicians as well as great charity events like the Matthew P. McIntyre Memorial Golf Tournament. While this internship experience is different since Ginny has been running this business herself for almost 20 years out of her home, I very much enjoyed the journey!

Here’s to beginning my last year at RWU and gaining more knowledge and experience in the field of PR!
